Beijing, Oct 31 (IANS) The installed capacity of China’s solar power in September has increased by more than 400 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
The photovoltaic (PV) power connected to China State Grid, the country’s largest power grid operator, stood at 2.71 million kilowatts at the end of September.
The figure was about 2.18 million kilowatts higher compared to the same period last year, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) said Wednesday.
The China State Grid purchased 2.48 billion kilowatt hours of PV power in January-September period, up by 537 percent year-on-year, Xinhua quoted SERC as saying.
PV power generation is a means of generating power by converting solar radiation into electricity using semiconductors.
