Beijing, Feb 5 (Inditop.com) China Friday said it would impose anti-dumping measures on chicken imports from the US.

The preliminary ruling required importers of chicken products from the US to place deposits at Chinese customs starting from Feb 13, according to a statement on the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) website.

Investigations showed the US producers had dumped chicken products in the Chinese market, causing substantial damage to China’s domestic industry, Xinhua news agency cited the statement as saying.

RIA Novosti adds: In the first half of 2009, some 407 tonnes of poultry were imported to China. The US supplied 90 percent of poultry consumed in China.

The Chinese authorities started the anti-dumping investigation of US poultry imports in September 2009.
