Beijing, June 30 (IANS) China intends to spend over 1 trillion yuan ($155 billion) for nearly 100 urban rail lines.

The mammoth investment will take place by 2015.

The urban rail lines will cover 2,500 km, China Daily reported citing the Beijing Morning Post.

The media report said that 500 million yuan will be spent on each kilometre of urban rail.

The government has approved 28 of 36 cities’ urban rail transportation development plans for future rail lines.
