Beijing, Feb 2 (IANS) Wealthy Chinese have spent $7.2 billion during their spring holidays abroad this year, a study has said.

The figure was 28.6 percent up year-on-year, the Shanghai Daily Thursday quoted a report of the World Luxury Association as saying.
Europe remained the top destination for luxury shopping during the seven-day holiday, with a 46 percent market share.

Chinese tourists accounted for 62 percent of Europe’s luxury sales, a 12 percent year-on-year rise.
Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and North America were the favourite destinations for Chinese travellers.
The association said the Chinese were the biggest buyers during the holiday, with watches, leather goods, fashion clothes and cosmetics topping their shopping lists.
The country spent $12.6 billion last year on luxury products, excluding private jets, yachts and cars, representing 28 percent of the global figure.
