London, Aug 1 (IANS) The Chinese Olympic delegation has started investigations into allegations that some of its badminton players were deliberately losing in the group stage of the London Games.

“The Chinese Olympic Committee is devoted to promote the Olympic spirit, carries forward the sports spirit of equity and justice, and opposes any kind of behaviour to violate the sporting spirit and morality,” a delegation spokesman told Xinhua Wednesday.
The Badminton World Federation charged eight women’s doubles players, two from China, four from South Korea, and two from Indonesia, with “not using one’s best efforts to win the match” after two contests ended in controversy Tuesday night.
The spokesman said the Chinese delegation will take further action depending on the outcome of the investigation.
World Champions Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang of China were booed by the crowd at the Wembley Arena Tuesday after they appeared to deliberately lose points against South Koreans Jung Kyun-eun and Kim Ha-na in a group match.
