Los Angeles, May 2 (IANS) Hollywood actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts are suing electronics companies to protect their intellectual property rights after their photos allegedly appeared on the comapnies’ business websites, brochures and newsletters.
They are suing Digital Projection, Inc. and Beyond Audio, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
According to Hollywood Reporter, court papers filed in Superior Court here Friday, state: “Defendants prominently used large photographs of Plaintiffs in Defendants’ advertising, marketing and promotions including print advertisements published in numerous magazines over the past several months.”
“Accordingly, Defendants are liable to Plaintiffs for the infringement of their publicity rights, privacy rights, and trademark rights.”
Clooney and Roberts are demanding unspecified compensatory damages, in addition to punitive damages and attorneys’ fees. They are also seeking an injunction to prevent the firms from using their names and images in future, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
