Beijing, Dec 2 (IANS) Chinese archaeologists have found a complete fossil of a sauropod dinosaur that dates to the Jurassic era 150 million years ago.
The fossil was first discovered by villagers when they were digging a pond in Qijiang county in Chongqing municipality, Xinhua reported Thursday.
Sauropods were large, four-legged, herbivorous dinosaurs. They had very long necks, small heads with blunt teeth, a small brain, and long tails for counterbalancing their necks.
Qijiang is rich in geological resources. A cluster of dinosaur footprints had earlier been found in the region.
