Butare (Rwanda), Jan 31 (IANS) Top ranked African football team Cote d’Ivoire romped into the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) semifinals after beating Cameroon 3-0 here.
After playing a goalless draw at the Huye Stadium on Saturday, Cote d’Ivoire returned strongly and scored through Koffi Boua with a well taken header, reports Xinhua.
The ASEC Mimosas player headed the ball into the net after 96 minutes with the Cameroon defenders not able to do anything to stop the ball.
Moussa Souleymanow netted the second goal from a well taken Yazid Atouba Emane cross after 103 minutes.
Cote d’Ivoire skipper Moumi Nicolas Brice later scored a beautiful goal with the shot taken from the centre of the pitch in the 108th minute.
Cameroon had some chances in the first half but failed to utilise them.
“This is a very sweet win because we managed to score three goals after 90 minutes,” said Cote d’Ivoire coach Michel Dussuyer.
Cameroon coach Martin Mpile Ndtoungou was disappointed after the final whistle and said his players relaxed in extra time.
