London, Oct 16 (IANS) Croatia coach Igor Stimac said he offered to step down following his side’s 0-2 defeat to Scotland in their final 2014 World Cup football qualifying match.
The former Croatia international Tuesday said he wanted to shoulder a “moral responsibility” for the defeat, which put the team into a two-leg playoff in November, reports Xinhua.
His resignation is yet to be accepted.
Stimac, 46, was a member of the Croatia side that reached the 1998 World Cup semifinals.
