London, June 1 (IANS) Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in Paris 13 years ago, may have been killed for her plan to expose the nexus of Britain’s arms traders and landmine manufacturers, a leading lawyer has claimed.
The Princess of Wales may have been killed because she was preparing to expose landmine dealers, said Michael Mansfield, lawyer of Mohamed Fayed, father of Diana’s boyfriend Dido who was also killed in the accident.
Mansfield said that he believed the car crash in 1997 was ‘more than a mere accident’ as soon as he heard about it, the Telegraph reported.
‘I think, and a witness who knew her well claimed, that she had an exposure diary in which she was going to expose the people most closely involved in the British arms trade,’ the Queen’s counsel told the Hay Literary Festival in mid-Wales Monday.
‘It seems to me that that is not unrelated (to her death),’ he said, adding that there was a missing box of papers that could contain crucial information.
‘Nobody really knows what was in it. I don’t know what was in it. It may have been the diary,’ he was quoted as saying.
