Paris, May 30 (IANS) World No.1 Novak Djokovic played sublime tennis here on Saturday to overcome the challenge of rising Australian teenager Thanasi Kokkinakis at the French Open.
Djokovic eased past his 19-year-old rival 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the men’s singles fourth round at Stade Roland Garros.
The 28-year-old Djokovic is in search of his maiden Roland Garros title which can make him just the eighth man in history to complete the career Grand Slam after Andre Agassi, Don Budge, Roy Emerson, Roger Federer, Rod Laver, Rafael Nadal and Fred Perry.
The Belgrade native has twice been runner-up here, losing to Rafael Nadal in the 2012 and 2014 title matches.
Next up, Djokovic will face either local hope Richard Gasquet or Kevin Anderson.
