Santiago (Dominican Republic), Aug 28 (EFE) A “powerful” network of drug dealers that was operating out of the main cemetery in this Dominican city has been broken up, an official said.

Abel Rojas, the regional spokesman for the counter-narcotics agency, said Thursday that 1.5 kg of cocaine was seized from them.

He said the gang distributed drugs to people who pretended to go to the cemetery to visit loved ones’ graves.

Authorities have placed a surveillance team around the cemetery to ensure the safety of employees and visitors.
