Dubai, Sep 2 (IANS/WAM) Dubai Police have managed to successfully handle an explosives threat situation at the Dubai Public Prosecution premises, an official said Monday.
An Uzbek woman Sunday walked into the Dubai Public Prosecution building accompanied by her child and threatened to blow herself up if she did not receive help to settle a personal dispute over proving the paternity of her child.
In quick response to the threat, the building was immediately evacuated and a team from the UAE national security and Dubai Police started negotiations with the woman.
Negotiations with Zulfiya Hamraeva from Uzbekistan commenced at noon Sunday and continued until 1.30 a.m. The Uzbek woman demanded that the paternity of her child be established and claimed that an Emirati was the father of her child from relations outside marriage.
In cooperation with Dubai Police Rapid Intervention Unit from the General Department of Authorities and Installations Security, negotiation were held successfully and the woman was arrested at the Public Prosecution without recourse to use of arms.
Further investigations will be carried out, a police official said.
