Dubai, May 30 (IANS/WAM) Dubai has urged traders not to sell cigarettes for at least 24 hours at petrol stations and shops on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day May 31.

A total of 63 shops and 138 petrol stations are taking part in the campaign.

Restaurants and cafes have also been requested to participate.

There will be free medical tests conducted by the Dubai Medical College on the occasion, and lectures and workshops in various institutions on maintaining health and safety of the community.

The Dubai municipality had issued a law in 2007 prohibiting smoking in public places.
