Baghdad, May 1 (IANS) Eight people, including three Iraqi soldiers, were killed and 20 others wounded Saturday when a suicide bomber struck at a military check post in northern Iraq, Xinhua reported.

The attack took place near a market in Mosul city, some 400 km north of Baghdad, police said.

Mosul has been a hotbed of insurgency and sectarian violence since the US-led invasion in 2003.

Sporadic bomb attacks continue in Iraqi cities despite the dramatic decrease of violence over the last three years in the country.
