Kiev, July 2 (IANS) Chelsea striker Fernando Torres won the Golden Boot as the top scorer in the 2012 European championship.

The Spaniard, who scored a goal and an assist in Spain’s 4-0 crushing of Italy in the final, finished with three goals and an assist along with Germany striker Mario Gomez, but took the accolade for having played for shorter duration than his rival, reported Xinhua.
Apart from Torres and Gomez, Mario Balotelli of Italy, Alan Dzagoev of Russia, Mario Mandzukic of Croatia and Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal also scored three goals at the championship.
