Beijing, Jan 15 (Inditop.com) Former armyman Padma Choling was elected governor of Tibet Friday by the regional parliament.

Choling, a Tibetan who served in the People’s Liberation Army from 1969 to 1986, was elected governor at the regional parliamentary session, Xinhua reported.

He has replaced Qiangba Puncog, whose resignation was endorsed by the regional People’s Congress Friday.

Choling, 59, was elected vice-chairman of the regional government in 2003.
