Panama City, Feb 3 (IANS) The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) lifted the two-year suspension imposed on Panama and returned the Panamanian Basketball Federation (Fepaba) to the international fold.
FIBA’s legal advisor Gabriel Baum Sunday informed that the organisation’s central bureau in Barcelona, Spain, decided to lift the suspension imposed on Panama’s basketball two years ago, Panama’s Olympic Committee (COP) said in a statement, reports Xinhua.
FIBA Americas imposed the suspension due to internal conflicts in the Panamanian basketball, which even led to the formation of two federations in the Central American country.
The statement added that Fepaba was evaluated after the election process held Jan 31 called by FIBA, who ratified that the recent elections were transparent.
