Hanoi, May 31 (IANS) Five people, including three Vietnamese Americans in a family, were killed early on Sunday when their car was hit by a container truck in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, media reported.

According to preliminary investigation, the seven-seater car and a 45-seat coach were running on the National Highway 1 to head for a pagoda in Dong Nai Province, which borders Ho Chi Minh City.
The car was forcefully rear-ended by a speeding container truck when the two vehicles were waiting at the stop lights on National Highway 1 of the capital. The truck’s driver was nodding when the collision happened, local online newspaper Tien Phong (Pioneer) quoted sources as saying.
A total of 759 traffic accidents occurred in the city in the first two months of this year, killing 138 people and injuring 686 others, the traffic board of the capital earlier announced.
