Buenos Aires, June 29 (IANS/EFE) About five million Argentines look for a girlfriend or boyfriend through online dating services, with about 50,000 users a day, a media report said.

Argentina has 22 percent more singles than people who are married or in a relationship, and, after Brazil, is the Latin American country with the greatest acceptance of dating over the internet, according to websites consulted by the daily Perfil.

‘People begin working younger and younger and finding love later,’ Claudio Gandelman, general manager for Latin America of match.com, said. The internet is ‘the ideal choice’ for people ‘over 25 who have demanding jobs and little time but want to meet new people’, he added.

Among its 60 million Latin American subscribers, match.com has four million Argentines, while the other million ‘cyber-lovebirds’ in Argentina subscribe to similar websites, the report said.
