Dhaka, Nov 30 (IANS) Four people were beaten to death by an angry mob in Bangladesh after they allegedly tried to extort Taka 20,000 from a villager, a media report said Friday.

The incident took place at Kaliani Beell area of Faridpur sub-district in Pabna Thursday night, the Daily Star reported citing police.
Three of the dead were identified as Mohammad Khalil, 25, a leader of the Janajuddha faction of the outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party, Liton Hossain, 22, and Akkas Ali, 26. The identity of the fourth was not known.
A gang of 10 to 12 people led by Khalil went to the residence of Md. Abul Kalam Thursday night to extort money, locals told the daily.
Villagers of the area organised themselves and chased the miscreants. The mob managed to catch four of them and beat them to death, police said.
