Paris, May 31 (IANS) India’s Leander Paes and Cara Black of Zimbabwe fought their way into the quarterfinals of the French Open tennis mixed doubles with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 defeat of Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei and Brazilian Bruno Soares here Monday.
The second-seeded Indo-Zimbabwean pair will now be challenged by Yaroslava Shvedova Kazhakhstan and Julian Knowle of Austraia.
Paes partnering Czech Lukas Dlouhy also entered the quarterfinals of the men’s doubles Sunday. The third-seeded Indo-Czech pair, who are also the defending champions, now faces Poland’s eighth-seeded Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski.
