Abu Dhabi, Nov 23 (IANS) Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton comprehensively won the season ending Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and in the process also clinched the drivers’ World Championship for the second time here Sunday.
Starting second, Hamilton went ahead of pole-sitter, teammate and championship rival Nico Rosberg and kept the lead to win the race. Williams drivers Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas came home second and third, respectively.
An electrical issue in his car forced Rosberg to drop pace, eventually finishing a lowly 14th.
British Hamilton had also won the 2008 title when driving for McLaren.
The Abu Dhabi GP offered an unprecedented double points finish.
