New Delhi, May 25 (IANS) Fast moving consumer goods major Hindustan Unilever Tuesday said its net profit rose 47.14 percent to Rs.581.2 crore in the January-March quarter as compared to Rs.394.99 crore in the corresponding period of 2008-09.

The company’s total income jumped by 8 percent to Rs.4,408.65 crore for the quarter. It was Rs.4,077.57 crore in the like period a year ago.

It posted profit after tax of Rs.2,202.03 crore for the year ending March 2010, as against Rs.2,496.46 crore during the previous year.

The company’s total income stood at Rs.17,873.44 crore against Rs.20,829.05 crore a year ago, a statement said.
