Hong Kong, Sep 24 (DPA) A 14-month-old girl fell to her death from a seventh-floor apartment after climbing out a window while her mother was cooking, Hong Kong police said Thursday.
The girl is believed Wednesday evening to have climbed from her bed, which was pushed up against a window in the apartment.
She received critical injuries and died after being admitted to hospital.
The 24-year-old mother was arrested on suspicion of ill treatment or neglect.
There have been a number of cases in recent years of children falling to their deaths from high-rise apartment blocks in the city after being left unattended by parents or caregivers.
In June, a three-year-old girl was rescued by firefighters from a ledge outside a first-floor window after she was left alone by her grandmother.
