New Delhi, April 1 (Inditop.com) Indian and Chinese leaders Thursday exchanged greetings on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties and underlined their optimism about future development of the relationship for the sake of regional and global peace.

‘India-China relations have diversified into almost all areas of human endeavour,’ Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in his felicitation message to Chinese leaders.

‘They have achieved a high level of maturity that serves the interests of both our peoples and the cause of peace, stability and progress in the region and the world,’ he said.

‘We regard the future of India-China relations with optimism,’ the prime minister said, adding that he looked forward to working with the Chinese premier ‘to harness the vast potential for the further expansion of our ties to realize the mutual aspirations of our two peoples’.

In a separate message, President Pratibha Patil conveyed ‘warm greetings and good wishes’ to the leadership and friendly people of China. ‘Our bilateral relations have gained in strength and momentum and have assumed global and strategic dimensions as a result of efforts by the two sides,’ she said.

In his letter to his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna underlined ‘resolve to work closely with China for the peace and prosperity of our region and the globe’.

Conveying warm greetings from the Chinese leadership, China’s envoy Zhang Yan underlined that India and China have more in common than their differences. ‘When China, India join hands, they can make a positive impact on world peace,’ he said.
