Dhaka, Dec 2 (IANS) A dance recital by leading Indian Kathak guru Rajendra Kumar Gangani and his disciple Swathi Sinha marked the conclusion of a five-day dance fest here.
The dance festival is part of the Ananda Jagya programme jointly organised by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre of the Indian High Commission here and the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Rajendra Gangani told New Age newspaper that he ‘felt great’ seeing the packed auditorium.
‘There are many artistes who have done courses in India. I am very happy meeting them at the programme,’ said Gangani.
Speaking as the chief guest, Bangladesh’s Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad said that it was a great opportunity for Bangladeshi audiences to enjoy the performance of noted Indian performers.
Pointing out that the two neighbours will hold a cultural programme next year on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Azad said: ‘We believe this cultural exchange will further strengthen the bilateral relation between the two countries.’
