Tokyo, March 22 (IANS) Japan booked its first trade surplus in five months for February as strong exports to the US overweighed declines in those to Europe and Asia, government data released Thursday showed.
Japan’s exports outstripped imports by 32.9 billion yen (about $395 million) in February. But the goods trade surplus fell 94.8 percent from a year earlier, according to the government report.
However, the trend that overall exports have been slowing and imports growing remained unchanged, said Japanese finance ministry.
The result came after the country marked a revised record-high trade deficit of 1,476.88 billion yen in January, reported Xinhua.
