New York, Aug 26 (IANS) Singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake won four trophies, the maximum, at the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn here.

Timberlake won the best video of the year award for his song “Mirrors”, which was also honoured for best editing. Another of the singer’s numbers, “Suit and tie” won the award for best direction, while 32-year-old also won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the event Aug 25, reports accesshollywood.com.
The event, which saw some high-voltage performances by singers including Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus, also saw musician duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, take the second spot as far as the number of awards was concerned.
They won three awards – best hip-hop video and best cinematography for “Can’t hold us” and a best video with a social message for “Same love”.

Singer Bruno Mars won two awards – best male video for “Locked out of heaven” and best choreography for “Treasure”.

Best female video: Taylor Swift – “I knew you were trouble”
Best pop video: Selena Gomez – “Come and get it”
Best rock video: Thirty Seconds to Mars – “Up in the air”
Best collaboration: Pink and Nate Ruess of fun. – “Just give me a reason”
Best song of the summer: One Direction – “Best song ever”
Artist to watch: Austin Mahone – “What about love”
Best visual effects: Capital Cities – “Safe and sound”
Best art direction: Janelle Monae featuring Erykah Badu – “QUEEN”
