Kathmandu, Feb 11 (Inditop.com) His grandfather and father were called Shivaputras – sons of Lord Shiva. So it was probably destined that Bhuvanesh Mukul Komkali would be drawn by the Hindu god to sing praise of the divinity.
Indian classical singing maestro and Padma Vibhushan Kumar Gandharva’s grandson Bhuvanesh, whose father Mukul Shivaputra is also an accomplished vocalist, is leading a team of five singers to the revered Pashupatinath temple Thursday evening, the eve of Mahashivaratri, one of Nepal’s biggest religious festivals, to sing bhajans in praise of the god.
The 31-year-old, who learnt his art in the lap of his grandmother, renowned bhajan singer Vasundhara Shrikhande, has been brought to participate in the Mahashivratri festivities by the Indian embassy in Kathmandu and the Pashupatinath Area Development Trust that administers the shrine.
Hundreds of singers, musicians, pilgrims and sadhus from India have arrived in Nepal for Mahashivratri that is also expected to see Nepal’s President Ram Baran Yadav, and deposed king Gyanendra worship at the shrine.
