New Delhi, Nov 30 (Inditop.com) Lithuania Tuesday said it will open an embassy here in three months to strengthen its economic and cultural ties with India.
It will also open a consulate in Mumbai by next month.
“We are looking forward to renewed business ties with India,” Lithuania’s Minister Counsellor Albretas A. Dambraus told reporters here.
“With the opening of the Lithuania embassy in New Delhi and the consulate in Mumbai, we can look forward to serious business relationships,” Dambraus added.
The diplomat said that in the past, there has been cultural exchanges between the two countries. “But now we are looking at serious business. Bilateral trade is estimated at 267.5 million euro ($402 million).”
Lithuania will also sign new bilateral trade and double taxation avoidance agreements with India, he said.
“There are many areas like medicine, nuclear energy, science and technology, and food processing where both countries can cooperate. India can look at Lithuania as a point to enter European Union.”
Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Minister Vygaudas Usackas and Minister of Economy Dainius Kreivys, along with a 30-member delegation from various trade associations, will visit India Dec 1-4.
