Macao, June 8 (IANS) The government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has proposed a comprehensive tobacco ban in all local casinos in three years, as it was drafting an anti-tobacco bill, the Macao Post Daily reported Tuesday.

Under the new version of the bill, there would be no areas in the casinos where patrons were permitted to smoke, Xinhua quoted the daily newspaper as saying.

In addition to local casinos, the smoking ban will also be imposed in sauna parlours, massage parlours and ballrooms when the new law takes effect.

The SAR government will also change the labelling requirements for cigarette packages based on the Hong Kong example, said Chan Chak Mo, who chairs the Second Standing Committee of the legislative assembly of SAR.
