Kuala Lumpur, April 13 (Inditop.com) A Malaysian state is offering a “second honeymoon package” for couples in troubled marriages by encouraging them to have romantic walks and build sand castles on sea beaches.
Marriage counsellors in Terengganu state are helping the couples get over their differences, The Star newspaper said Tuesday.
The success of the package has got the organisers to touch upon what they consider a major cause of domestic strife: nagging wives.
Four couples who were on the brink of separation have reconciled.
State Welfare, Community Development and Women Affairs committee chairman Ashaari Idris said: “We will be using the same module to help couples from other parts of the country.”
After marriage counsellors provided tips on how to enhance relationships, “the couples were left alone”.
He said: “We also have the right accommodation to help couples to become intimate again.”
The participants, mostly married for more than a decade, admitted that they “felt like newly-weds” after attending the package and wanted to sign up for another package, he said.
He plans to open the package to foreigners for whom Malaysia is a popular destination.
