Kabul, Oct 2 (Xinhua) A man who was abducted by the Taliban in eastern Afghanistan has escaped from its captivity after killing six militants, an official said Thursday.
The incident took place in Paktika province.
“The Taliban insurgents kidnapped a man called Rahim on charge of working for government from Yahya Khil district Wednesday, and Rahim late night snatched a gun from the Taliban and after gunning down six of his captors, he escaped,” provincial governor Mohammad Qayum Katawazi said.
In retaliation, militants torched Rahim’s house. The governor said Rahim and his family are safe and under police protection. He rejected Taliban’s claim that Rahim worked for the government.
The Taliban militants have called on people not to work for the government, particularly with the security forces.
