Sao Paulo, Dec 1 (IANS) Mark Webber was undergoing medical checks Sunday after a horrific crash during the final race of the World Endurance Championship in Brazil.

The Australian’s Porsche collided with Matteo Cressoni’s Ferrari before slamming into a wall at Sao Paulo’s Interlagos circuit, Xinhua reported.
At the time of the incident, Webber was in sixth place with under half an hour remaining in the six-hour race.
Paramedics hauled Webber from his mangled vehicle before an ambulance took him to a trackside medical centre.
The 38-year-old appeared to give a thumbs-up sign to the crowd as he was cleared from the wreckage.
“Cressoni was checked by the medical staff at the side of the track and cleared, while Mark Webber, who was awake and alert, was taken to the circuit medical centre for further examination,” organisers said in a statement.
It’s not the first high-speed crash suffered by Webber at Interlagos. He was also involved in a sickening collision at the same spot while driving for Jaguar at the 2003 Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
