New York, Aug 19 (IANS) The truth between the sheets is out. Women in lesbian relationships and men are more likely to reach orgasm during sex than straight women, shows a fascinating study.
The study, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, found that men experience orgasm during sex with a familiar partner 85 percent of the time on average compared to 63 percent for women.
“Lesbians experience orgasm during sex 75 percent of the time, compared to 62 percent for straight women and 58 percent for bisexual women,” said researchers from Indiana University.
The study involved over 6,500 US men and women between ages 21-65.
According to them, “one possible explanation is thatÂ…lesbian women are more comfortable and familiar with the female body and thus, on average, are better able to induce orgasm in their female partners”.
Women also have more varied types of orgasm than men.
Overall, men experienced more orgasms in bed than women, the study noted.
The findings call for further investigations into the comparative sexual experiences and sexual health outcomes of sexual minorities, researchers concluded.
