Melbourne, March 16 (IANS) German driver Nico Rosberg of Mercedes Sunday clinched the Formula One season opener at the 2014 Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne’s Albert Park street circuit here Sunday.

Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull finished second and Kevin Magnussen of McLaren was third.
For Rosberg, it was his fourth race championship while his teammate Lewis Hamilton retired early from one of the most chaotic races in recent years due to an engine problem.
Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and other five drivers also quit the race for various issues ranging from mechanical problems and crash.
Felipe Massa who was hit from behind by Kamui Kobayashi of Caterham was very furious after he quit the race and he even called the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile to come down hard on the Japanese driver.
