Mexico City, Jan 7 (Inditop.com/EFE) Mexico has expressed “profound concern” over the death of its undocumented migrant who was shot by a US Border Patrol agent and said it will closely monitor the investigation into the incident.
The Mexican foreign ministry said Wednesday that it will closely follow the investigation into the shooting of Jorge Alfredo Solis Palma near Arizona.
The Jan 4 death of Solis is cause for “profound concern,” the ministry said in a statement.
The matter was under investigation by the Border Patrol, the FBI and the sheriff’s office in Cochise County, Arizona.
Diplomats at the Mexican Consulate in Douglas are monitoring the probe and have initiated the process of notifying Solis’s family and offering assistance in repatriating the body, the foreign ministry said.
Meanwhile, authorities in Cochise County said the Border Patrol agent opened fire after Solis threw rocks at him and a patrol dog.
