Mexico City, May 30 (IANS/EFE) A military helicopter crashed in Apatzingan, a city in the western Mexican state of Michoacan, but no one was injured, said an official.

The helicopter, which was carrying a crew of two, went down Saturday after experiencing mechanical problems while flying at an altitude of about 250 meters.

The pilot landed in a tree, cushioning the impact of the crash and avoiding any damage to structures on the ground.

The soldiers were providing support to ground forces battling drug traffickers in Michoacan, a state that has been plagued by drug-related violence blamed on several drug cartels.
