Manila, May 13 (Inditop.com) Unidentified miscreants burned down classrooms in three schools that were being used as polling centres for the presidential elections in the Philippines, the country’s military said Thursday.
The schools, situated in Akbar town in the island province of Basilan, were burned down Monday evening.
“Two classrooms in Kaddayan village, one in the Mangalut elementary school and one classroom in Sinangkapan village were razed to the ground,” Captain Steffani Cacho, spokesperson of the military’s Western Mindanao Command, was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
The military has launched an operation against the unidentified people who burned down the rooms after Monday’s elections.
The island province of Basilan is home to Al Qaeda-linked Abu Sayaff militant group.
