The Hague, June 1 (IANS) Former Bosnian Serb army commander Ratko Mladic Tuesday arrived in the Netherlands to face trial on war crimes charges, Xinhua reported.
The war crimes suspect was moved to the Scheveningen prison after he arrived at Rotterdam The Hague Airport on a Serbian government jet Tuesday afternoon.
Mladic will face trial on genocide and war crimes charges at the UN’s International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague.
The 69-year-old former army commander was indicted in 1995 by the UN war crimes tribunal for crimes against humanity and war crimes allegedly committed during the 1992 to 1995 conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was captured last Thursday in the village of Lazarevo, north of Belgrade.
