London, Dec 29 (IANS) Actress Carey Mulligan was left disappointed while researching her role in ‘The Great Gatsby’ as authorities at one of the colleges refused to let her take a photo of author F. Scott Fitzgerald’s original manuscript.
Director Baz Luhrman is filming a big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s epic novel starring Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire in Sydney.
Mulligan plays Daisy Buchanan and she is spending time on intensive research for her character, reports dailystar.co.uk.
She even travelled to Princeton University in New Jersey and searched the archive for documents related to former student Fitzgerald – but when she tried to photograph the author’s first draft of his most famous work, staff stopped her.
‘Baz left us loaded with research files, books to read and folders of stuff about the 1920s. I went to Princeton and got to read Fitzgerald’s papers. I even saw the first manuscript of ‘The Great Gatsby’. They wouldn’t let me take a photo though,’ Mulligan told Empire magazine.
