Nairobi/Kinshasa, Aug 11 (DPA) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton showed her claws in the Congolese capital Kinshasa after a student asked her for her husband’s opinion.

Former US president Bill Clinton up-staged his wife last week when he secured the release of two US journalists from North Korea as she embarked on a seven-nation African tour.

Secretary Clinton is normally adept at keeping her cool, but she lost her temper at a public forum Monday night when a student asked her what her husband thought about a big Chinese trade deal with the Congolese government.

“You want me to tell you what my husband thinks?” Hillary Clinton snapped. “My husband is not the Secretary of State, I am.”

Hillary Clinton arrived in Kenya a week ago at the start of her African tour – during which she is promoting better governance, human rights and trade – only to face journalists peppering her with questions about her husband’s mission.

Bill Clinton secured the release of Laura Ling and Euna Lee, two journalists sentenced to 12 years hard labour after being arrested on North Korean soil.

Secretary Clinton is in Congo on the fourth leg of her tour. She is expected to visit Nigeria, Liberia and Cape Verde.
