Naypyidaw, Sep 9 (IANS) Speaker of Myanmar’s Parliament U Shwe Mann has stressed the need for more reform in the country, media reported Monday.

“Political reform is not only enough for democratisation. Executive, economic and function reform must be made in synchronisation and harmony,” Xinhua quoted U Shwe Mann as saying.
He called on the legislative and executive bodies to fulfil the voice and aspiration of the people.
Elsewhere, he emphasised the importance of rule of law in the country, calling on people to abide by the law.
He said parliament was responsible for enactment of ‘just’ laws which the people can abide by, and the laws that serve interest of the state and citizens.
Myanmar has been in a process of democratisation since the new civilian government, headed by President U Thein Sein, came into effect in March 2011. The multi-party general elections were held in November 2010.
