Islamabad, Feb 28 (IANS) Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Friday said no military operation was going on in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and only targeted action was being carried out.

The minister told the National Assembly that the government had yet not made up its mind to launch a military operation and no such decision would be taken in a stealthy manner, reported Dawn online.
He said the damage to civilians due to the targeted action was minimal, adding that the numbers of those displaced in the aftermath was not enough to require a process of formal transportation and registration.
Nisar added that in case the government decided to launch a military operation, the call would likely take three-four weeks’ time.
The minister said that after the recent surge in violence, the government had decided to target the region from where the militants operate.
He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would call a meeting of the four chief ministers on the security policy in the coming week.
