Oslo, July 28 (IANS) Police in Norway Thursday called off their search for missing people and bodies on and around Utoeya island, Sky News reported. A deadly shooting on the island led to the death of 68 people.
The official figure of the victims killed by Anders Breivik on the island has been set at 68.
Norwegian police chief of staff Johan Fredriksen said, ‘The number of missing people is very low’.
‘I can confirm that the search around Utoeya has now ended. We will never stop searching if there is hope of finding people,’ Fredriksen told a press conference.
Breivik, 32, has confessed killing 76 people, including eight in a bombing in Oslo which was detonated just before the Utoeya shooting.
Fredriksen said the killer will have ‘no contact with the outside world’. Only his defence lawyer would have access to him.
Breivik, however, has made several unusual demands.
He has asked for a non-Norwegian psychiatrist to assess him, special food, access to his manifesto, permission to view the Wikileaks website, as well as a laptop.
Breivik is not allowed access to television or newspapers.
