London, Nov 1 (IANS) Colourful displays of flowers that brightened up a walkway for 11 years in an apartment block will now be removed as they could block someone’s fire-escape.

Owners Siobhan and Gary Benham have been ordered to remove their baskets and flower pots in case they block someone’s escape in a fire, Daily Express reported Monday.

Officials at Riversmead Housing Association, which runs the block in Hertford, have even threatened the couple with court action.

Benham, 40, said: ‘It’s a real blow for us. Regulations are choking the joy out of life.’
