Islamabad, Nov 4 (IANS) Over five lakh children in Pakistan’s Balochistan province will be administered polio drops during a three-day campaign starting Nov 8, a senior official said Thursday.

Amanullah Kakar, the director general of health services in Balochistan, said a total of 508,254 children would be administered polio drops and vitamin A doses by 880 medical teams, which include 1,760 volunteers.

Children upto the age of five would be given the drops by medical professionals stationed at 107 designated centres and 55 special points near airports, bus stands, railway stations and border entry points, the Online news agency reported.

This anti-polio drive would be monitored by 14 experts from the World Health Organisation (WHO), while 18 Unicef officials would also be participating in the campaign.
