Islamabad, Oct 30 (IANS) Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Wednesday said in the upper house of parliament that there was no proposal under consideration of the government to convert the death sentence into life imprisonment.
Responding to a question, the minister said 13,223 death penalties were awarded across the country since 2002, of which, 501 were carried out, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.
He said 6,149 terrorists were arrested by the law enforcing agencies since 2002.
The minister said 12,404 people were killed while 26,881 were injured in various terrorist incidents during the same period across the country.
He also said that 413 incidents of terrorism, which include suicide attacks, took place in the country since June this year.
