Karachi, July 28 (IANS) Pakistan’s cricket selectors Thursday drafted several rookies in the country’s 16-man squad for the tour of Zimbabwe in September.
Mohsin Khan, Pakistan’s chief selector, announced that veteran batsman Misbah-ul-Haq will lead the team in all three formats during the tour that will include one-off Test, three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches.
The youngsters included in the touring squad are hard-hitting batsman Rameez Raja Junior, who earned accolades during a domestic Twenty20 tournament in Faisalabad earlier this summer, young leg-spinner Yasir Shah and pacer Aizaz Cheema.
Making a return to the 16-man national squad are left-handed opener Imran Farhat and allrounder Sohail Tanvir.
Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has been picked as one of the six reserve players but his inclusion is subject to clearance from Pakistan Cricket Board’s integrity committee. Malik has been overlooked for national duty since last summer.
